Newport Laboratories is partnering with the whitetail deer industry to build Custom Made Vaccines specifically for cervidae animals.

Diseases being addressed include:

• EHD (Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease Virus)
• Lumpy Jaw (Fusobacterium necrophorum)
• Diarrhea (Clostridium perfringens Type A)
• Pneumonia (Pasteurella multocida)
• Bluetongue Virus
• Mannheimia haemolytica
• Arcanobacterium pyogenes

We are able to build combination products containing any or all of these antigens to best meet the needs of specific herds/regions.

What are Custom Made Vaccines?
Custom Made Vaccines - including toxoids, bacterins, and vaccines - offer a unique method of controlling infectious diseases. They allow producers and veterinarians to design a vaccination program using the most relevant and current strains of a disease, as well as to counteract new and emerging diseases for which there is not yet a commercially available product.

Custom Made Vaccines are prepared from cultures of inactivated microorganisms that have been harvested from the herd in question. Newport’s Molecular Biology Department specializes in characterizing bacteria and viruses submitted by producers. Once a strain has been correctly identified, the Newport staff, along with veterinarians, will work to develop and implement a specific disease control protocol, including biological formulation.
