Ben Hause, MS
Education: Ben received his B.A. in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Minnesota-Morris. He received his M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Minnesota.
Industry Experience: Following graduate school, Ben joined NatureWorks LLC, a subsidiary of Cargill. At NatureWorks, his focus was on improving fermentation performance of a number of microorganisms through strain improvements via genetic engineering and fermentation development. His work contributed to four patent applications for the production of L- and D-lactic acid in yeast. He is well-versed in molecular techniques such as PCR, DNA sequencing, recombinant DNA technology, protein analysis, and biochemical and immunological techniques. After five years at NatureWorks, Ben joined Newport Laboratories as a Research Scientist.
Role at Newport: Ben is responsible for overseeing operations of Newport's Diagnostic Laboratories, including both the traditional Diagnostic facility as well as Molecular Diagnostics. He also works on diagnostic test development and troubleshooting, provides technical support to clients, and works closely with Newport's autogenous production facility.
