Education: Dr. Freese received his DVM from Iowa State University in 1971. He also received a M.S. from the University of Minnesota in 1998.

Industry Experience: In 1981, Dr. Freese co-founded Oxford Laboratories, a veterinary biologics company and predecessor to Newport. Oxford was later sold to the Upjohn Company. In 1994, he founded Newport Laboratories, which provides veterinary diagnostics and biologics to the livestock community. Dr. Freese has been a very active member of local, regional, and national organizations. Board memberships include: Trustee of the Southwest Minnesota Foundation, past President of the Interstate Veterinary Medica Association, past President of the American Association of Swine Practitioners, and one of few practitioners to receive the Meritorious Service Award from this organization. 

Role at Newport: Dr. Freese is co-founder and CEO/Chairman of the Prairie Holdings Group, which encompasses seven companies in agribusiness and the animal health industry. These companies employ over 200 people and market biological products and services. In addition to managerial responsibilities, Dr. Freese also serves as a consulting veterinarian as a member of Newport's Technical Services division. Dr. Freese has served as a consulting veterinarian in Europe, Asia, Mexico, and Canada. He has extensive public speaking experience as well, having spoke to meetings both across the United States and internationally.
